Are You Telling a Good Story? Part 1

"Your life is God's story being told and His character being displayed.
How does your life read?
What is your life telling others about the God you serve?
As a result of your decisions,
do they get to see Him displayed in His best light?"
(Priscilla Shirer - Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted)

Have you ever thought of your life as a story being told?
Are you telling a good story?
What are others learning about God
as they watch you in your current season of life?

These questions will make you think, make you cringe, make you wonder if you're living in such a way that is a worthy representation of a loving God.

I can honestly say that, at times, I have not told a great story.

I've complained, been lazy, not done my best, been rude, been quick to judge, been critical, gotten off track, not prayed enough, not read God's word enough, not wanted to go to Church, not wanted to serve my family, held a grudge.

This is not the kind of story I should be telling.

If I was to tell the story of God's blessings in my life I should........

Serve without grumbling.
Love without condition.
Forgive without thinking about it.
Work until I fall into bed.
Find joy in the storm.
Marvel at God's creation.
Give until it hurts.

But, I'm not perfect and neither are you and the good news is that God knows that and loves us anyway.

All we can do is try, each day, to tell a good story..........
about a God who loves us,
a God who provides for us,
a God who forgives us,
a God who sacrificed for us.

Tell it by serving, loving, caring, giving, praising, worshiping.

Tell it by working like there isn't a more important job in this world.
Tell it by loving your family like there is not another family in this world to love.
Tell it by serving your friends and neighbors as you do yourself.
Tell it by forgiving your enemies like they deserve it.
Tell it by spending time in God's presence.

Tell a good story today.

God deserves it.
