This has been a busy weekend, but it's been great in so many ways!
Friday started out with breakfast with David
at our favorite Cafe'.
It's always nice to get away for a quiet breakfast,
with just my hubby.
And, it's awesome that I can walk into this cafe
and the sweet waitress says
"Do you want your usual French Toast with bacon?"
Uh, yes, and thank you for making me feel special!
Friday afternoon brought about some Farming duties
that had to be done:
David is plowing up the pasture
so our huge pets (known as horses)
will have some grass to eat.
He loves this part of his life!
If he could make a living working the fields, he would!
While my poor, hardworking husband was outside sweating,
I was inside doing this:
Cooking up a batch (or 2 or 3)
of the Pioneer Woman's
Malted Milk Chocolate Chip cookies.
Oh man!
These were good!
And HUGE!
And Yummy!
And, I got them done, just in time for our special guest to arrive that evening.
That's him, in the middle, with the drum......
Payden.
Payden and Ted have been friends since they were in 1st & 2nd grade,
and although Payden's family has been on the mission field since he
was about 11, their lives have sort of paralleled each other,
in the way of music and direction.
Payden came up to meet Darin and Terri of Over Everest,
and possibly talk about joining the band in the very near future.
Awesome!
They all got along great and we loved having him here.
Friday night, Ted whisked Payden away to a youth bonfire,
where Ted was leading worship, and Payden jumped right in, on his drum.
Then Saturday night, we had Darin and Terri come here
for a front porch singing.
I love these times of just sitting around, singing
and talking.
It's just so reminiscent of days gone by!
We should do this more often.
Sunday was church,
with Payden sitting in with the team for worship.
It was so awesome to see the two young men,
leading worship together.
David and I had lunch at home,
Collin brought home a friend,
the boys went out to lunch,
and we watched Bob Newhart reruns all afternoon on the couch.
It was so nice to just relax and have no obligations.
We were supposed to be having a little powwow about
this:
but we had something better come up.......
Darin and Terri came to pick up their son,
who was hanging out here with Collin
for the day,
and they didn't leave until 9:30pm!
We talked for about 4 hours and totally lost track of time!
So, we've had a great weekend of fellowship!
We were sad to see Payden go this morning, though.
He's got a 9 hour drive back home.
I felt like I was sending off my own son.
I have enjoyed having him here, so much!
I gave him a bag of cookies to keep him company,
so at least he won't be hungry!
Today is Memorial Day
and I am working around the house,
David is planting seed in the pasture, with Collin's help.
Ted is off on a Museum trip with friends,
and it's nice to just see everyone doing their own thing.
It's been a blessed weekend!
I hope you've had one too!
