These are some of the books
waiting on me.
It seems I can't read fast enough these days!
I love:
Fiction
Biographies
Self-Help
Finance
Homeschooling
Decorating
Mysteries
Devotionals
Christian Living
I will read fiction on my iPad,
but not biographies
or
finance
or
anything else
I want to highlight in.
And I love to highlight in my books!
Books are a gift.
How anyone could NOT want to read,
is beyond me.
What are YOU reading right now?

I am reading Spirit Wars by Kris Vallenton, Dee briston's friendships of women and Eat To live by dr furhman.
ReplyDeleteI love many of the same kinds of books and authors as you...Joyce Meyer and Dave Ramsey are two of my favs. Like you, I highlight parts of books that really impact me and that I want to remember. Right now, I am reading a Mary Higgins Clark mystery , "Remember Me." It is one of her older books...picked it up at a thrift store recently. Can you believe I've never read a Mary Higgins Clark book before? I enjoy your blog. Good to know you are a fellow book-lover!
ReplyDeleteI came to your blog when you left an encouraging comment on mine. I will definitely start following your blog!! : ) Our family is also doing Dave Ramsey...nice to see a fellow Dave fan!
ReplyDeleteMelanie, I'm so glad you stopped by!
DeleteI am a huge Dave Ramsey fan and although I've only posted one of his books here, I've got several more of his and his recommendations waiting on me.
After reading my favorite Tozer for a while, I just finished "Total Forgiveness" by R.T. Kendall. Got me straightened out a bit. No, not a bit. A lot. I thought I was quite the forgiving person, but couldn't understand why I still had so little victory in certain areas of my life. I realized that what I thought was "forgiveness" was merely "overlooking," "tolerating," "ignoring," or "forgetting," but not truly forgiving. Through this book, God showed me how to truly offer a clean slate to others--with no record of wrongs. Just imagine what that does for my marriage--when my husband can stand before me at any given moment with "clean slate" that I continually erase, moment by moment. There is no past record of any word or deed he has ever done, nor record of my judgment or opinion or comparison of his words or deeds. He (and everyone else in my life) stands before me perfect each moment--just like God allows me to stand before Him, perfect and sinless through Jesus Christ. Important lesson--it was a hard one for me to learn.
ReplyDeleteI am now in the middle of "I Die Daily," by Todd Tomasella. Amazing book. Wish I could get the hang of crucifying my sin nature to let Christ live through me! This book is exhortation enough for my thick skull and stubborn, selfish nature. He is really helping me visualize how to "bury" my self--my flesh--continually, giving up my self-interests and self-motivations, letting only Christ's interests and God's will reign supreme. I pray for God's will to be done at all times--not mine--but I still succumb to my will so much. I am so persistent about my own wants sometimes!
I have also been reading snippets of Andrew Murray's "Humility" and "Absolute Surrender."
Recently skimmed through some of my favorite fiction again:
That Printer of Udell's by Harold Bell Wright
"Ishmael" and "Self-Raised" by E.D.E.N. Southworth
A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Princess Tales by Gail Carson Levine
While I was in the hospital, I read the "Anne of Green Gables" series on my daughter's Kindle. Realized I do not like those books. :-) But I know not many would agree with me.
Would love to write a book for wives. How does this title grab you: "What Part of "Rib" Don't You Understand?"
You can see why I'm grounded from writing for a while!
Enjoy your reading! Looks like you've got a great stack! Do you have some great tea to go with those books?
Loved your post about Ted's travels. Glad he is doing so well--but I know you know how I feel to have one getting so close to leaving the nest. The ripping feeling inside is just awful! I love it when Gabe is home! Going to treasure every minute of it, for sure! But I also love watching him grow up, too. Exciting to be the mama of a full-grown man! (He's not quite there yet, though!)
