The Goal I Didn't Intend to Accomplish

Funny thing about goals......
you don't always reach the ones you set out to reach,
but then again.....
sometimes you reach the ones
you didn't even know you were going for!

Last week I was on a roll.  I was making progress with cleaning out, setting up, and several other areas, to get ready for the new year.

One task I was facing was something I've attempted over and over, only to fail for some reason or another.

That task is Menu Making.  Don't ask me why (too many reasons), but I always find it to be totally mind boggling to put together a complete menu and shopping list that matches.

My mind would literally freeze up at the thought of trying to decide on what day we would have Lasagna or Chicken.  I just couldn't do it!

But, something supernatural happened last week!

I was making my feeble attempt at putting together a two-week menu and list.  I really wanted to accomplish this because it was the new year and it would be just the icing on the cake, to the organizing frenzy I was on!

So I sat down with my Recipe Notebook and started pulling out some meals that were my family's favorites and some that would be easy and new.

Once I had two weeks worth of meals planned out, I started going meal by meal and listing ingredients needed for that meal. (Ok, this isn't so hard!) And the whole thing just came together.

But, that's not the amazing part!

This overwhelming desire to share this with my friends came over me and I went to the computer and started typing up the recipes, shopping lists, and notes about cooking, and the next thing you know.........

I was putting together a COOKBOOK!

Yep, you heard it........a Cookbook!

Who in the world would have ever thought of me putting together a cookbook?  Not ME!

But, I'm telling you......it just flowed out of me and came together in no time and I am still amazed!

So here's the finished product......

I'm so excited about this book!

It's not a fancy cookbook with lots of pictures of gourmet meals.
It's simply a variety of recipes - some from my kitchen, some from
websites and blogs,
but complete with shopping lists, tips for cooking in bulk,
and other ideas for Saturday Breakfasts, Lunch during the week,
Freezer Meals and Desserts.

This truly was a supernatural occurrence because I have NEVER had a desire to write a book, much less a cookbook!   But, that just proves that when God is in it, it will come together in such a way that you would never have imagined!

The great part about this, besides finally having a MEAL PLAN, is that I get to cross this off my "Goals" list,  (right after I pencil it in, because it wasn't never even part of the plan)!

You just never know......

Here's to setting goals and accomplishing much more!

Have a great day!

  1. Wow, what a surprising day for you. So neat when things come together and then, even better, the unexpected blessings that flowed so smoothly!
