Immune Boosting Goodness!

Ok!  I promise not to talk about my hacking cough or my stuffy nose or how I had to wake up at 4a.m. and suck on a zinc lozenge to keep from choking or anything else that might make you uncomfortable.

So, instead, I'll share with you one of my immune boosting methods (I have no idea if it really worked, but it sure tasted good!)

You start with one of these:

Most of the time I use frozen fruit, such as Mango, Strawberries, Peaches, and Pineapple.   I usually buy a really big bag at Sam's, then divide it into cup-size portions, using sandwich sized ziploc baggies.    I also stick one half of a banana in each baggie.  Bananas freeze well and make the smoothies a little creamier.

Then I get out all the "magic potions" (just kidding, for those who don't know me).

These all come from The Bulk Herb Store, which is where I buy all my herbs and honey.   The Raw Honey you see here is the ONLY honey I will even put in my mouth and the main reason is that it doesn't taste like honey!   It has an amazing taste (I should be getting paid for this:)!!

The smoothies I'm making here, have one desired function - to give our immune systems a boost!

First I added some Elderberries, which are good for respiratory problems.  I added about 1 teaspoon per 8 oz. of liquid.

The small jar, labeled Erin's Super Green Drink Mix, is packed so full of herbs, that it is literally all the vitamins you will need for the entire day!   You can go to the Bulk Herb Store and type in the name and read about all the great stuff it has in it.    So, I added about 1 teaspoon of the powder per 8 oz of liquid.

And, the Honey is for overall immunity, as well, and it adds a little sweetness to the fruit.

I normally just use water for the liquid, but this time I used about 1/4 cup of Orange Juice, for some extra Vitamin C.

I used the largest cup on my Nutribullet (about 16 oz), made two batches, and it was enough for all 4 of us to have about 8oz of Immune Boosting goodness!

I'm pretty sure these will be on the menu again today!

Do you have an easy immune boosting recipe you use on your family?   I would love to hear it!

Stay Well or Get Well - whichever applies to you right now!

Have a blessed day!

  2. Along with the healthful benefits you've mentioned, I would say, for us, eliminating unhealthy ingredients in our daily foods i.e. high fructose corn syrup, limited natural sugars, hydrogenated fats, MSG (including the disguised-named chemicals for MSG) etc. Natural remedies go hand-in-hand with already healthy eating habits and boost our immune systems even further.
I'm going to check out the herb store you mentioned.

    1. Brenda,
I am sure a healthy diet has much to do with how quickly we heal, if we get sick at all.

It's something we definitely need to work on!

  3. Sounds like a great smoothie! I like to make smoothies and fresh juice in my juicer. I've noticed like Brenda that when I eat healthier, I stay healthier.

I want to try some of that Erin's Super Green Drink Mix. I better go check out this herb store. Right up my alley. :)

    Thanks for sharing.

  4. Yummy! The funny thing about smoothies, healthy vitamins and all: my kids LOVE them! They think it's a milkshake treat. And it is a treat! Only without all the yucky chemicals and processed sugars.

    1. Julie,
It's a great way to "hide" all the good stuff - like leafy greens! Sometimes Collin will question me, but he still drinks it all down!
