Quick Trip and Many Sights

This week we had a quick trip to Dallas, on business.

It's nice to be able to pack up and travel with David.   Collin and I usually hang out in the hotel while David is at work, then we all spend the evening together.

This time we wanted to take Collin to a fun restaurant for dinner, so we headed over to The Magic Time Machine.

If you've never been to one of these, you have to go, at least once.    As a teenager, I chose this place every year, for my birthday dinner and I always took a friend along.

It's so much fun because the waitstaff are dressed up like movie characters, such as Superman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman, Esmarelda (from Hunchback of Notre Dame), Willy Wonka, and others I can't remember.

They are sometimes loud and fun and if you get up to go to the restroom, they will announce it to the entire section you're in.    They bring the kids drinks that bubble and for the adults who order water, they give you 3 choices: Salt Water,  Fresh Water, or Toilet Water.     David made the mistake of being silly and ordering Salt Water and that's exactly what he got!  Yuck!  I don't even want to know what he would have received, had he ordered Toilet Water!

The next day we headed home, but we took a more scenic route.

We stopped by a bakery that shared Collin's name, so of course we had to stop!

We ran inside for a quick look around and came out with:
A loaf of Bacon Cheese Bread, Jalapeno Bread, Cinnamon Bread, and a Collin Street Bread Box!

Next we took a quick tour through the neighborhoods in a little town called Palestine, Texas.
I loved the old houses there and snapped a few pics of some of them.

A little further down the road we pulled over to take some pictures of an old, woman's college.   This place was so creepy, with all the windows busted out and the insides falling down.  But when we looked up at the roof and saw the vultures.........

I kept waiting for the scary music to start and the storm clouds to roll in!  This, seriously, would have made a perfect movie scene!

Here is the old (OLD) sign to the college:

Our last stop was down a long, winding dirt road to a cemetery, to visit the grave of David's great grandfather, Isaiah, who died in the early 1900's.    We had no trouble finding it, so Collin got to see his Great, Great Grandfather's grave.

We had a good trip and it was a nice little change of pace.  I'm thankful that we can take time off to see the state and the backroads sometimes.

It kind of messed me up though!  Since we were gone on Monday and Tuesday, I felt like Wednesday was my Monday!  Ever get confused like that when you go out of town?

Either way, it's back to life and laundry and all the other wonderful things that make up this crazy life.

I love it!

  1. It's uncanny how you do that... a blog post full of smiles, add a few tears. It's your signature style. Just when I think I'm going to be happy and smiling all the way through... Bam! The tears. You throw in something that tugs the heart you just laid wide open with your writing! :-)

    1. I was so excited about the breadbox! I have been wanting one and to find one PLUS have Collin's name on it.....so much fun!

I get really excited when I see things with Collin's name because so many people spell it with one "L" (Colin), which to me, spells Colin, as in Colin Powell.

      So there ya go!
