It's almost October......my favorite month!
But we can talk about that tomorrow :)
We had a great weekend! Busy, relaxing and fun.
On Friday, Collin went off to camp for the first time in his life, except he wasn't going as a camper, but as a part of the worship band.
He had a great time, but he came home exhausted, as we knew he would. I'm not sure if this has squelched his curiosity about camp or not. Time will tell.
After we dropped him off at church on Friday evening, David, Ted and I, went to hear our friend Rachel sing at a little cafe in town. We had a table full of friends there and it was a fun night, with good music. ( Here is a link to Rachel's website and you can find Rachel's music on iTunes under Rachel Honza.)
Saturday David and I spent some time shopping for a little front porch project I had going on. We went to an antique store in town to find some old signs. After that, we had lunch at one of our favorite Mexican food places. Then came home in time to have coffee and do some yard work. Well, David did the yard work and I worked on this......
Anyway, about this..... the antique wash tub is something we found in a garage sale years ago. It's original purpose was for washing clothes, but we are going to use it as a cooler for our get-together nights. I think it will look great with classic bottles of soda, don't you? (The lid comes off and it has two separate compartments).
The screen door hanging on the wall, was something I picked up at a flea market and I've had it out in the yard for a few years. I don't know where this idea came from - to hang it on the wall, but it just popped into my head and David humored me, as always, and hung it for me. Then we agreed that it needed to have old signs hanging on it, so we found a few to start with.
I don't normally start my Fall decorating until October, so what I have there (the flowers and one thing that says Fall) look kind of pitiful, but as of tomorrow, we will begin adding our pumpkins and hay and give it more of a Fall look, but this was a good start.
While David was finishing up the "yard" work (about 3 acres of mowing!), I was in the kitchen listening to the Joey and Rory Show on WSM 650 AM, the official radio station of the Grand Ole' Opry.
I made a good, old fashioned Chicken Pot Pie while listening to old time radio and it just made for a great evening in the kitchen.
And, I like having a good meal waiting for David, after he's been working outside. I'm so thankful to have a husband that takes care of the outside, while I look after the inside. We make a good team.
Sunday it rained all day, which was great, because after church we had lunch and sat on the couch and watched TV and visited with David's mom. It was a nice, relaxing day with no obligations.
I think there's something to this "day of rest" thing. It sure helps to recharge you for the week ahead.
Now, for a busy week to begin.......
We've got a field trip tomorrow, a major singing obligation on Thursday night, and all the regular things in between.
Oh, and here's a little tease about what's coming up in Ted's life........
But, you'll have to wait for that news. I'll post more as it gets closer.
I hope you have a great Monday!
Be a blessing to someone today........
