A True Mother's Day

I'm sitting here alone on Mother's Day.    Well, technically I'm not totally alone.....Collin is in his room, in his bed.....sick.

Isn't that what true motherhood is about?

While it's nice to be honored at church, taken out to lunch, receive cards and get pampered for a day - this is what being a mom is all about.

Being in the trenches.

I hate when my kids are sick.   I've always considered it one of the most stressful things about being a mom.

But, it's our job to watch, to mend, to care for, to wipe foreheads and give the meds.

It's what we do.

Am I upset that I don't get to dress up and go out?     Not really, because I just went in to check on Collin and he says his back doesn't hurt anymore and his stomach feels "ok".

And, there you have it.

Music to a mother's ear.

Get well little one.

That's all we mothers care about.

And that will sing Happy Mother's Day the loudest.

  1. Yes....in fact...I cherish the simple every day moments more than the gifts or flowers of special days. You're a great mom and I hope you have a great day!!
