Month of Meals - Week 1 Recipes

Well, it's the first day of June, which means it's also the first day of our Month of Meals with Marcy Jo's and I've been so excited to share this first set of recipes with you!

If you've checked out the links I gave you in the first post of this series, then hopefully you've watched one or some of the videos that go along with the recipes.

And, if so....you're probably wondering who these people are and why am I so crazy about them!

So, I thought I'd tell you a little about how we came to know about Joey, Rory, and Marcy and this little place called Marcy Jo's.

As you know, we love music in this house, so a few years back we were watching one of the many music competition shows on TV.    This one happened to be Can You Duet and Joey and Rory happened to be two of the contestants.    We fell in love with them right from the start!

Their humility and their love for one another stood out among the other contestants and you really couldn't miss that special quality they shared when they sang together.     Their sound was classic, which we love, and we just really came to like their style.

So, we followed their music and started buying their albums and a few years later, we were glad to find their TV show on one of our favorite channels - RFD-TV.

Their show was unique in so many ways, one of which..... they do it all themselves!   But also because they would feature song writers in each episode, which is unique, because you rarely get to see the people that write the music, because the world focuses on the performers mostly.

Each episode also featured a segment from Marcy Jo's Mealhouse, which is what you see when you go to the recipe section of their website.

So, now you know a little about how we came to know them.......well, not technically KNOW them, but follow them.

Although we have met all of them, with the exception of Joey, but I'll tell you more about that later.

For now, here are the recipes for the first week:

Shepherd's Pie
Angel Biscuits
Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

I hope you'll take time to watch the videos when you go to the recipe page.   Just click on each dish above and it will take you to the video and recipe for that dish.

Remember, you have all week to gather ingredients and make your meal, as long as you post the pictures by Saturday.     Pictures need to be posted to the Facebook page found HERE.

Each week that you participate in making a meal and posting your pictures, your name will be entered to win a box full of goodies the last week in June.

Most of all.....have fun and enjoy feeding your family!

See ya soon!

  1. My son is at a friend's house and my daughter is watching TV, so I had a little time to watch the video clips and print out the recipes. Gonna go shopping later today for these yummy dishes :)

  2. The only season of Can You Duet I have ever seen is the one that Joey and Rory were featured on and my husband and I both loved them! I hear more about them than I do about the kids who actually won the show!
